Eyed up by a host of Premiership clubs after helping Australia beat England at Upton Park in spring 2003, Rovers beat the competition that summer to secure his services £2.2million.
A regular on the right for both club and country, Brett was an influential member of the Australian squad in the World Cup in Germany in 2006.
For Rovers Emerton has since shown his versatility by operating as a right-back, a central midfielder as well as at right wing, signing a new four-year-deal with the club in July 2008.
Brett featured in all three of Australia's World Cup matches in the 2010 tournament, and was part of the Socceroos squad that reached the AFC Asian Cup final in January 2011.
Ended the 2010-12 campaign strongly, scoring some important goals as Rovers pulled clear of the relegation places.
