Formed in 2003, this electro-dance music group from Sydney was founded by David Greene (Dave Goode) and Jonathon Murphy (Jonny Sonic) both from Dublin Ireland relocated to Sydney in 2002.

Greene and Murphy worked as DJs, another member of the group rapper Blue MC (Marisa Lock) was working in London as part of a duo called “Streetbox”. In 2005 she returned to Sydney and became a part of The Potbelleez, they begin playing live by 2006. It was this year when Ilan Kidron (iKid) joined the group as part of the vocals, they started recording tracks and signed with Vicious Records label at the end of the year.

In 2007 they released the album “In the Junkyard” this record included singles like “Junkyard” and “Duurty Dreemz” this year they signed a contract with Myles Copper who became the bands manager. This year they released a song called “Don’t Hold Back” reaching number thirty-six on the ARIA Singles Chart, also the single was number one on ARIA’s Club and Dance Charts. By 2008 “Don’t Hold Back” was number five at the Singles Chart with certified double platinum by the Australian Record Industry Association selling more than 140, 000 copies.

The band’s music has been used for television shows like “Crunch”, “Australia’s Next Top Model”, “Blood Sweat and Gears” and “So you think you can Dance”. Two of their main singles became theme songs for “Big Brother Up-Late show” at Channel Ten, they performed to an audience of 1.9 million at the finale of Big Brother Australia. The band begin a tour with American Singer Usher in 2011, this became a sold out tour called “OMG”. This same year the band released a second album called “Destination Now” with singles “Hello” and “Shake it” included.

MC Blue made an announcement in 2012 through social media, she was leaving the band to start a new solo project.

The band released a new single in 2014 called “Here on Earth” with Ministry of Sound.
