About Ed Cowan

In 2009, in order to re-ignite his career, he took up an offer from the Tasmanian Tigers and within the space of a few months, the early promise he showed as a youngster returned with a flourish. Cowan ended up the second-highest Sheffield Shield run scorer in 2009-2010 - his 957 runs included a double century and two centuries. In the winter of 2010, Ed scored a hundred for Australia A against Sri Lanka A in a convincing series win.

Throughout his Sheffield Shield winning season in 2010-2011, Cowan kept a daily cricket diary titled "In The Firing Line: Diary Of A Season" which was published by New South Publishing in November 2011. He has also written articles for ESPN's CricInfo website and a number of other reputable cricket publications.

In December 2011, Ed was named to make his Australian Test debut against India on Boxing Day at the MCG. He ended up with over 200 runs for the series and is looking to cement his spot in the Australian Test team for the future.

Ed has played cricket around the world and has actively sought out experiences beyond the mainstream - stints in both Scotland and The Netherlands shaping his views on the cricketing landscape.

Cowan balances his cricket with studies: he has a commerce degree, has worked as an analyst for an investment bank and is currently studying his Masters in Applied Finance. He is happily married to Australian television and radio presenter Virginia Lette.
