Fiona Starr is an Australian flautist who performs a diverse repertoire including light classical, pop, bossa nova, jazz, and folk music such as tango, French chanson & gypsy jazz, celtic/Irish (on Irish flute/tinwhistle), Italian and Chinese songs. Fiona has a Diploma in flute performance from the Associated Board Royal Schools of Music UK (DipABRSM) and has been performing for over 15 years in Australia, Hong Kong and Macau.
She has collaborated with musicians from numerous countries in various ensembles including classical and jazz guitar, piano, harp, wind trios, accordion, strings, quartets, orchestras and theatre productions. In Sydney, Fiona played with the Sydney Wind Ensemble, a trio of flute, clarinet and bassoon and in Hong Kong, Fiona performed for six years for corporate functions, weddings and special events and for three years was resident with the lobby lounge quartet at the Island and Kowloon Shangri-La Hotels.
She also performed with the SAR Philharmonic Orchestra and HK Chamber Orchestra and has taught flute at the Australian International School HK, French International School HK, Sha Tin College and privately. She currently teaches flute at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, Sydney Boys High School and other schools in Sydney.
