Luke McGregor is a beloved writer, actor, and one of Australia’s most cherished comedians.
His comedy journey began unexpectedly in 2007 in Tasmania, when he entered the RAW Comedy competition after a last-minute decision. The following year, he was selected as a RAW Comedy national finalist.
In 2013, Luke's debut solo show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, ‘My Soul Mate Is Out Of My League’, played to sold-out audiences and earned him the prestigious Best Newcomer Award. He later enjoyed a successful run at London’s Soho Theatre.
The following year, Luke presented ‘I Worry That I Worry Too Much’ at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, which garnered such popularity that it moved to a larger venue during the festival and earned him Best Newcomer at the Sydney Comedy Festival. He also performed at the Edinburgh Festival and returned to London's Soho Theatre.
Luke continued his success with sell-out shows at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre in 2015 and expanded his solo show, ‘Almost Fixed It’, across Adelaide, Brisbane, and Melbourne in 2017. He returned to perform to sold-out audiences at the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2018.
In addition to his live performances, Luke has appeared in feature films such as ‘Now Add Honey’ and ‘Border Protection Squad’, alongside notable comedians like Peter Helliar and Dave Hughes. On television, he has had recurring roles on shows like Utopia and Legally Brown, and appeared in series like Please Like Me and True Story with Hamish & Andy.
In 2016, Luke hosted the comedic and insightful show ‘Luke Warm Sex’ on ABC, exploring various aspects of sexuality in his unique style.
Luke is perhaps best known as the co-creator, co-writer, and co-star of the acclaimed sitcom ‘Rosehaven’ with Celia Pacquola, which aired on ABC TV. His work on the show earned him the Most Popular Actor award at the 2019 TV Week Logie Awards. The fifth and final season of ‘Rosehaven’ aired in 2021, marking a successful conclusion to the beloved series.
