With musical influences from R&B and Pop, she signed a contract deal with Sony Music Australia shortly after Australian Idol ended. Her debut album called “The Journey” was released in 2007, reaching number four at the ARIA Chart, this live album also became certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association. It was this same year when she became a part of the pop group “Young Divas” before becoming a solo artist in 2008, Jessica’s first studio album was released this year with the name “Been Waiting”. The first single of this album called “Burn” reached number one on the singles chart. Two more songs reached the top ten, “Running Back” and “Because”. By 2009 this album became the second highest selling record of the year in Australia achieving double platinum.
In 2010 Mauboy released a second album named “Get ‘Em Girls”, the most popular singles of this record “Saturday Night” and “Inescapable” reached the top ten. Her third studio album was released in 2013 under the name of “Beautiful” this record included the singles “Can I get a moment?”, “Never be the same” and “Pop a Bottle (Fill me Up)”. This was a very important and busy year for her career as she made her debut as an actress in the movie “Bran Nue Dae” and landing a starring role in “The Sapphires” in 2012, her performance granted her an AACTA Award for best supporting Actress.
Through her career she has been nominated sixteen times for the ARIA Music Awards, winning two times, Mauboy was number sixteen on the list of the “100 greatest Australian Singers of all Times” published by The Herald Sun in 2013.
