Hailing from Rockhampton in Central Queensland, Duncan Armstrong gained national and international acclaim at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where he shattered the world record to claim Gold in the 200 metres freestyle.
Under the guidance of his colourful coach, Laurie Lawrence, Duncan enjoyed a decade-long partnership that yielded triumphs at the Commonwealth Games, Pan Pacific Championships, and various national and international competitions. Beyond swimming, Duncan earned accolades such as Young Australian of the Year and an Order of Australia medal. Following his participation in two Olympic Games, Duncan retired from competitive swimming in 1993 to embark on a career in media and corporate coaching.
Currently affiliated with Fox Sports, Duncan anchors their swimming coverage and hosts Fox Sports Central on Sundays. He also brought his expertise to the Athens 2004 Olympics as a commentator, providing live coverage from poolside for Radio 2GB.
