Lisa Curry is celebrated as one of Australia’s most beloved figures, renowned for her inspirational message on personal achievement, resilience, and health.
Her illustrious swimming career spanned an impressive 23 years, during which she competed in three Olympic Games, two World Championships, and three Commonwealth Games. Lisa held Australia and Commonwealth records across multiple swimming strokes from 50 to 400 meters, a distinction unmatched by any other Australian swimmer. Notably, she was the first Australian swimmer to compete at the Commonwealth Games as a mother. At the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, Lisa achieved her career highlight by swimming her fastest-ever time at the age of 30, while also raising two young children.
Post-swimming career, Lisa continued her athletic pursuits, coaching and competing with her outrigger canoe team, the ‘Riggeroo’s, securing four World Championships in Hawaii’s grueling 72km race. She further made history as the first Australian to triumph in the solo 66km Molokai to Oahu outrigger race.
In addition to her sporting achievements, Lisa is an accomplished motivational speaker and author of six best-selling health and fitness books. She has excelled as a personal trainer, coach, board member, TV and radio presenter, and product ambassador, all while balancing the role of a dedicated mother.
Lisa’s commitment to health extends to her creation of five online weight loss and fitness programs, alongside her educational website focusing on hormonal imbalance. Despite facing challenges, such as undergoing surgery in 2008 to implant a cardio defibrillator, Lisa remains a beacon of positivity and warmth, making her a highly sought-after keynote speaker.
