Wilbur Wilde is a familiar face to many Australians, renowned as the resident talking saxophone player on the beloved TV show Hey Hey it’s Saturday.
His acting credits span films like The Coolangatta Gold, Jenny Kissed Me, Dead End Drive-in, and Mad Max, alongside appearances in TV series such as The Fast Lane and The Flying Doctors.
With a passion for saxophone spanning over thirty-five years, Wilbur studied at the Sydney Conservatorium before achieving success with chart-topping bands like OL’ 55 and Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons. His musical journey includes recording and touring with renowned acts such as Roy Orbison, Skyhooks, Dire Straits, Cold Chisel, Tiny Tim, Elvis Costello, and Garth Brooks.
Beyond music, Wilbur has ventured into TV production, comedy writing, and public speaking. He spent 16 years on Hey Hey it’s Saturday and has showcased his acting and singing talents in productions like Hey Hey it’s Cinderella and The New Rocky Horror Show, touring internationally after successful seasons across Australia.
Wilbur continues to perform regularly with various bands, including The Good Rockin’ Daddies, Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons, funk ensemble The Turbos, and his own jazz group, Wilbur Wilde’s Blowout.
