Karen Tighe is a distinguished broadcaster, as comfortable commentating on sports as she is hosting or speaking at events and conferences. Her approachable and friendly demeanor, combined with her professionalism, makes her a sought-after figure by corporations throughout Australia.
Karen began her tenure with the ABC in 1989, following her graduation from Macquarie University in Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Psychology. Over the next eight years, she served as a sports reporter and anchor, covering golf, tennis, and other significant sports events.
In 1997, after eight years in TV sports, Karen transitioned to ABC Radio, taking on the role of host for the weekend national sports program, Grandstand.
She co-hosted ABC radio's broadcasts of the Olympic Games in Sydney, Athens, and Beijing, the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur and Manchester, and provided coverage for four Paralympic Games on ABC TV.
Karen also spent six years delivering sports news on ABC TV's weeknight broadcasts in Perth. She was a regular on the four-year run of Live & Sweaty on ABC TV in the early nineties and hosted ABC TV's annual coverage of the Hopman Cup Tennis in Perth.
