Barry DuBois, a Master Builder and television presenter for Channel Ten's "The Living Room," has a rich history spanning over three decades in the building industry. Despite his diverse roles beyond construction, it was his appearance as a judge on Network Ten’s "The Renovators" that truly showcased his charismatic and knowledgeable persona to the Australian audience.
Barry's journey began with an apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery, followed by a Building Certificate in 1984, which led him to establish his own building company. His career includes serving as President of the Master Builders Association for the Eastern Suburbs for three years and being actively involved in local council as an independent councillor.
Starting with renovations and small extensions, Barry soon ventured into buying, renovating, and selling small homes and terraces by the late eighties. His ambition saw him take on larger projects, ultimately working on multi-million dollar properties with waterfront playgrounds.
At 46, Barry chose to leave building sites to prioritise his family and explore various adventures. Over the past six years, he has travelled extensively across Europe, enjoying sailing, car racing, dirt bike riding, and immersing himself in different cultures.
In 2011, Barry was invited out of retirement to judge on "The Renovators," which led to his current role on "The Living Room." Though new to TV presenting, he relishes the opportunity to share his insights and extensive expertise in property, design, building, renovating, investing, and craftsmanship. He also provides consultancy services to an investment bank, offering advice on property and development opportunities.
Barry DuBois is a down-to-earth, compassionate, and dynamic Aussie, who has navigated more than just challenging weather on construction sites. He is always ready with advice and a captivating story.
