There are millions of fitness professionals, but only one Commando Steve.
Recognised nationwide as ‘Commando Steve’, Steve Willis stands out as one of Australia’s most respected fitness experts. Since 2005, he has enriched lives through his expertise in fitness, mindset, and nutrition.
After growing up in Queensland, Steve joined the army straight out of school, serving a decade in the Australian Special Forces. In 2004, he transitioned to a career in fitness, and five years later, he placed fourth in the CrossFit Games in the US—still the highest rank achieved by an Australian male.
Steve became a familiar face on Australian television, putting contestants through their paces on eight seasons of Channel Ten’s ‘Australia’s Biggest Loser’. He inspired, motivated, and pushed contestants to reach levels of physical and mental fitness they never thought possible.
In 2018, Steve challenged himself further by joining Channel Ten’s first-ever series of Australian Survivor: ‘Champions vs. Contenders’. With skills honed in the Army and the fitness industry, Steve thrived in the primitive surroundings, embracing the opportunity to live freely without modern comforts.
Recently, Steve has focused on self-awareness, through self-education, listening, learning, and practicing mindfulness. He openly discusses how his relationship with exercise has evolved from a coping mechanism to a path for better self-understanding. Shedding the ‘hard man of fitness’ persona from The Biggest Loser, Steve now enjoys life more fully, incorporating mindfulness into all he does.
While fitness and movement remain central to his life, Steve now aims to share the wisdom gained from his varied experiences to help others transform their lives.
