Daisy Pearce is not only the captain of the Melbourne Football Club AFLW but also a prominent figure in the AFL Women’s League. Her passion for women in sports, particularly AFLW, reflects her dedication to its growth. Beyond her sporting achievements, Daisy is a mother, a professional midwife, and holds a significant role in football media.
Originally from country Victoria, Daisy Pearce has been a trailblazer in Australian Women’s Football. As one of AFLW’s leading stars, she has been pivotal since its inception on the national stage in 2016.
Despite AFLW being in its early stages, Daisy boasts an impressive career. She captained Melbourne in its inaugural seasons (2017 and 2018), winning the Best and Fairest awards both years and earning All-Australian honours twice. Daisy has also excelled in the VWFL/VFLW. Off the field, she continues her work as a practicing midwife.
In 2019, expecting twins, Daisy took a break from AFLW but remained active. She expanded her role as an expert analyst for the Seven Network and SEN radio. She also mentored first-year players at Melbourne, showcasing her leadership off the field.
Known for her humility and caring nature, Daisy navigated the abrupt end of the 2020 AFLW season due to COVID-19 with optimism. Looking ahead to 2021, Daisy and her team are hopeful for what the season will bring.
