Eddie McGuire joined Channel Nine in February 1994, initially as a sports commentator and co-host of the acclaimed program “The Footy Show.”
In April 1999, Eddie was selected by the network to host the globally renowned quiz show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," a role he continues to hold, overseeing its success in 25 countries worldwide.
Beginning his media career in 1982 with Channel Ten, Eddie served as a sports journalist and presenter for Eyewitness News until 1993. In 1997, he co-founded McGuire Media with his brother, Frank McGuire, a respected Walkley Award-winning journalist. Together, they produce the popular Triple M radio program, The Grill Team.
Eddie is also an accomplished author, having penned two bestsellers: "Pants: The Darren Milane Story" and "Footy Show Screamers," in addition to contributing a weekly column to Melbourne's Herald Sun.
In January 1998, Eddie represented the Australian Republican Movement at the Constitutional Convention in Canberra and subsequently won election with more than 400,000 votes from Victoria.
A lifelong supporter of Collingwood Football Club, Eddie assumed the presidency in September 1998 and later served as CEO of Channel Nine from 2006.
Despite his busy schedule, he remains committed to philanthropic efforts through the Trevor Barker Foundation. Established in memory of St Kilda star Trevor Barker, who passed away from cancer in 1996, the foundation supports families of children battling cancer by providing a beachside retreat in Victoria. Eddie is known for his wit and engaging speaking style, making him a sought-after speaker and ideal for hosting roles.
