English-born Simon Hill joined SBS Sport after a distinguished decade in both radio and television in the United Kingdom. Graduating from the University of Portsmouth in 1990, Simon embarked on a journalistic career, initially writing for newspapers as a freelancer while studying for the NCTJ Pre-Entry Course in Newspaper Journalism.
Simon’s first role was at a local radio station in South Wales, marking the beginning of a career that led him to BBC local radio, BBC World Service, and BBC Radio Five Live. At the BBC, he served as both a presenter and commentator on Premiership and European football.
Simon's television career began at the BBC's digital channel, BBC News 24, before he was approached to join the new ITV Sport Channel as a presenter and reporter. Following this, he took on various freelance roles, including presenting for British Eurosport and Capital Gold Radio, and reporting for ESPN Star Sports in Singapore and Sky Sports News.
Throughout his career, Simon Hill has covered some of the world's most iconic sporting events, such as the 1995 Toyota Cup in Japan, the 1996 European Championships in England, the 1998 World Cup in France, Wimbledon Tennis Championships, Test and County Cricket in the UK, World Championship Boxing, and the Le Mans 24-hour race.
Since joining SBS Sport, Simon has been the voice behind major events including Socceroos matches, the UEFA Champions League, and the NSL Grand Final. He was also a key member of the presentation team for the 2004 Athens Olympics, the 2005 Ashes series, and the memorable Socceroos match against Uruguay that secured Australia’s place in the 2006 World Cup for the first time in 32 years.
In addition to his broadcasting career, Simon Hill frequently serves as an MC for Football Federation Australia events and has delivered keynotes for occasions such as the launch of the Adelaide International Football Tournament
