Wayne Pearce is a prominent figure in Australian rugby league, hailing from Balmain, Sydney. His illustrious career spans 192 first-grade games with the Tigers from 1980 to 1990.
Wayne gained prominence as player of the tour during the record-breaking Kangaroo tour of 1982. He continued to excel, earning the title of representative player of the year in 1984 and winning the prestigious Rothman's Medal in 1985 as the game's best and fairest player.
As captain of the Tigers for seven seasons, Wayne led the team to four consecutive Panasonic Cup finals (1985-1988) and two grand finals (1988-1989). His impact extended to the State of Origin arena, where he played fifteen games for New South Wales, captaining the Blues from 1985 to 1988, including the historic 3-0 State of Origin clean sweep in 1986.
