Paul Clitheroe is a prominent figure in the Australian financial services industry with a distinguished career spanning several decades. He served as Chairman of the Australian Government Financial Literacy Board from 2003 to 2019 and is currently the Chairman of Ecstra, a body established to support financial wellbeing by distributing proceeds from certain ASIC fines, totalling approximately $75 million.
In 1983, Paul founded ipac securities, which grew to manage $9 billion in funds before being sold to AXA in 2002.
He gained widespread recognition as the host of "Money" on Channel 9 from 1993 to 2002, and his "Talking Money" segments are broadcast on radio stations across Australia. He also chairs Money Magazine and is the author of the bestselling book "Making Money," which has sold over 600,000 copies.
Paul's commitment to community service is evident in his roles as Chairman of the youth anti-drink driving organization RADD and the listed Fin Tech company InvestSMART. He holds the Chair of Financial Literacy at Macquarie University, where he is also a Professor in the School of Business and Economics.
In 2008, he was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia for his contributions to the financial services industry and the community.
Alongside his wife Vicki, Paul established the Clitheroe Foundation in 2003, providing grants, scholarships, and mentorships to support Australian youth.
An avid ocean racer, Paul won the 2015 Rolex Sydney to Hobart race in his TP52 Balance.
